I'm happy to say that we have our reliable offshore winds again! This seems to happen every year, it's the gamble that you take. Here is the answer to a question I get asked a lot: In the rainy season or Nicaragua's winter season (May - November)...

Great surf, awesome weather!

Well we had some uncertain days here the last two weeks. Really rainy and onshore winds one day then a medeocra day or two and then back to onshore winds and rain. Yesterday we finally got our offshore winds back with some really good surf. Today the surf looks a little bit smaller but conditions are very favorable. Here is a photo that one of our photographers, Ervin, shot yesterday. Not too bad. You can check all the photos posted by Ervin for this month in our 'Surf Pics' section of the site.

HEAVY RAINS, the storm has now cleared.

The rains came a little early this year, they usually start the 2nd week of May or so. Nevertheless the last week of April took it on and it was damaging. Just check out the photo of one of the roads leading up to the "Colinas del Mar" residents. We all know that sometimes the surf is at it's best right after a big storm and this is no exception. (We didn't take any surf photos all last week due to the heavy rains and onshore conditions.) However today was the first day our photographers were out at the beach shooting some of the action at Popoyo. So other then tending to the roads and other erosion issues, visitors and residents are now happy to get there SURF ON!

The surf season here in Southern Nicaragua usually is from May - October. However I've seen the season kick off early in April. This year looks to be that way! Just take a look at the live surf cam and see for yourself. Although the Outer Reef doesn't seem to be consistent nor big enough to ride, Popoyo is bringing in double overhead surf. Handsome Keith just came in from a really long surf session and said that there are plenty of tubes to be had. The high tide today isn't really that high and the low isn't that low. Pretty much a medium tide all day. All this is making for a great day of surf.

We'll be posting fresh surf photos tonight of today's action.
Meanwhile check our surf cam if you're not already here!
